WATER AMBASSADOR
INTRODUCTION
The Water Ambassador badge is a collaboration between St John and PUB, the National Water Agency, as part of the Water Ambassador Badge Programme. The badge programme was launched on 21 March 2015 during the Singapore World Water Day 2015 by Minister of the Environment and Water Resources, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
The aims of the programme are spelled out in a form of the following learning outcomes:
1. Take ownership - teach and lead others to use water responsibly.
2. A sense of social responsibility to inspire others to become water advocates.
3. Become water advocates translating learning into actions – i.e. student volunteerism.
CONTENTS OF BADGE PROGRAMME
To achieve the Water Ambassador badge, students will be required to complete the following activities:
(1) Attend the Water Ambassador Programme
The Water Ambassador Programme will be held at the NEWater Visitor Centre / Marina Barrage (to be decided by PUB) during the school holidays and bookings are required. Bookings are to be made via St John Portal.
(2) Be A Water Advocate
Upon completion of the Water Ambassador Programme, students will be given the following options to complete the activities as a follow-up of what they have learnt during the programme:
Option 1 - Singapore World Water Day Activities
1. Students are to work in teams to design a campaign or activity to commemorate and celebrate Singapore World Water Day in schools or various locations around Singapore. Information on the event will be provided by PUB via St John HQ (CPB Committee).
2. The campaign, programme or activity reaches out to the community. Activities can include writing a water pledge or raising awareness on the importance of water conservation and sharing of water saving tips. For ideas, visit: http://www.singaporeworldwaterday.com/
3. At the end of the event, students will submit a group reflection (with photographs) on the activities conducted.
Option 2 - Service Learning for Community Outreach
1. In a small group of not more than 4, conduct an outreach programme for participants to educate them about saving water.
2. The participants can be from the following groups of people:
- fellow students from the school (not from St John)
- primary school students (min. 20 students)
- family members / relatives
- community / religious groups
- charity beneficiaries
3. At the end of the activity, students will submit a group reflection (with photographs) on the activities conducted.
Option 3 - Be a Water Educator
1. Design a simple worksheet for a guided walk at reservoirs, ABC Waters or waterway. The trail can be led by a small group of maximum 4 cadets.
2. The trail can be conducted for the following groups of people:
- fellow students from the school (not from St John)
- primary school students (min. 20 students)
- family members / relatives
- community / religious groups
- charity beneficiaries
3. Conduct the walk and create the worksheets for this activity. The worksheet should cover the following:
- Brief history of the site
- Features of the site
- Biodiversity
- Human impact at the site
- Importance of keeping our reservoirs and waterways clean
4. At the end of the activity, students will submit a group reflection (with photographs) on the activities conducted.

SUBMISSION OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Prior to application for the badge to be made via St John Portal, teachers will submit the following as supporting documents:
- Results for Assessment on Students' Reflections (based on rubrics)
Schools can tap onto the Project Rubrics developed by the CPB Committee and prepare the scoresheet for grading.
- Softcopy of Student's Group Reflections (with photographs). Arrangements can be made to submit by uploading to cloud sites (i.e. Google Docs, Dropbox, SkyDrive) and share with us.
