AWARD BADGES
There are award badges in which the cadets can achieved throughout their secondary school years with the brigade. The following are the award badges, in order of precedence.
1. CHIEF COMMISSIONER’S BADGE
2. DEPUTY CHIEF COMMISSIONER’S BADGE
3. COMMISSIONER’S BADGE
4. SUPERINTENDENT BADGE
Note that the award badges are awarded sequentially from no 4 to no 3 to no 2 and lastly to no 1. In other words, the first award badge a cadet can attain starts from the Superintendent Badge.
CHIEF COMMISSIONER'S BADGE
The Chief Commissioner’s badge is the highest award that a cadet can achieve under the Cadet Proficiency Badge Scheme.
To qualify for the Chief Commissioner’s Badge, the cadet must fulfil the following requirements:
Qualifying Level: Secondary Three (March)
Awarded Deputy Chief Commissioner’s Badge
To obtain 12 badges from the following:
Knowledge of the Order of St John – Compulsory Badge
Total Defence Proficiency Badge – Compulsory Badge
Community Care Badge – Compulsory Badge
At least 2 badges from Group 1 (excluding Community Care and Total Defence badges)
At least 2 badges from Group 2
At least 2 badges from Group 3
At least 2 badges from Group 4 (excluding Knowledge of the Order of St John badge)
DEPUTY CHIEF COMMISSIONER'S BADGE
To qualify for the Deputy Chief Commissioner’s Badge, the cadet must fulfil the following requirements:
Qualifying Level: Secondary Three
Awarded Commissioner’s Badge
To obtain Total Defence Gold Certificate
To obtain 9 proficiency badges in total (excluding Total Defence badge)
COMMISSIONER'S BADGE
To qualify for the Commissioner’s Badge, the cadet must fulfil the following requirements:
Qualifying Level: Secondary Two (June)
Awarded Superintendent Badge
To obtain 6 badges from the following:
Knowledge of the Order of St John – Compulsory badge
Total Defence Silver Certificate
At least one badge from Group 1 (excluding Community Care and Total Defence badges)
At least one badge from Group 2
At least one badge from Group 3
At least one badge from Group 4 (excluding Knowledge of the Order of St John badge)
SUPERINTENDENT BADGE
To qualify for the Superintendent Badge, the cadet must fulfil the following requirements:
Qualifying Level: Secondary Two
Attained Total Defence Silver Certificate
Obtain any 4 proficiency badges, including Heart Saver badge, but excluding Total Defence badge
SPECIAL BADGE:
NATIONAL ACTIVITY BADGE
In order to qualify for the National Activity Badge, the cadet must participate in any of the following events:
National Day Parade (NDP)
Singapore Youth Festival (SYF)
National Camp organized by MOE or St John HQ
National First Aid Competition
Any St John-related events organized at HQ level and approved by the Chief Commissioner in writing.
Represented in regional or international first aid competitions, subject to prior approval by the Chief Commissioner.
Points to Note:
Participants in NDP / SYF must be representing St John in the marching contingent and have attained 80% attendance and have marched on the actual day of the parade, in order to qualify for the badge
Participants in the National First Aid Competition must be a competitor or reserved member of a team, in order to qualify for the badge. Stewards are not entitled for this badge.
For any brigade event that deserves the award of National Activity Badge, the event organizer / officer-in-charge should email to the Chief Commissioner to seek approval for the badge to be awarded before its commencement.
