INTERGENERATIONAL ENGAGEMENT (IGNITE) (IGE/116)
Updated 30 December 2024
This is a new badge which will be introduced to the CPB scheme and added to the CPB module of the St John Portal by end of Q1 2025.
Introduction:
The IGNITE Programme is a joint collaboration between St John Brigade (SJB) and Agency of Integrated Care (AIC). The programme provides Secondary 3 Cadets and Youth Officers an opportunity to organise a community engagement project for elderly living in nursing home across Singapore.
About AIC:
The Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) is an organisation under the Ministry of Health. Established in 2009, they are the care integrators for the nation. One of their key roles is to refer patients from hospitals to Community Care services (such as Nursing Homes, Senior Care centres, etc.). They also help to enhance the healthcare system by organizing trainings to enhance capacity and capabilities to better support Singapore’s ageing population.
AIC aims to empower seniors and caregivers to stay well and active, with a peace of mind and to transform the care community so the people live well and age gracefully. They do this also as part of efforts to support nation wide initiatives such as Healthier SG and Age Well SG.
Objectives and Learning Outcomes:
Provide an opportunity for SJB cadets to learn about ageing, dementia and elderly care in Singapore.
Allow SJB cadets and youth officers to develop a sense of empathy for others and to inculcate the values such as Respect, Care and Harmony.
Allow SJB cadets and youth officers to be an active contributor in promoting independent and healthy living for our seniors.
Cadets who successfully complete Project IGNITE will be awarded the IGNITE badge under the CPB scheme.
Refer to the following presentation slides from the organizing team for more details:
