REFRESHED TOTAL DEFENCE (TD) BADGE PROGRAMME
Implementation in St John Brigade with effect from 1 April 2026
Summary of Revisions (extracted from Nexus' communication to all UGs):
a. Removal of all activities that require Smartphone use. Nexus will align the policy guidelines for the refreshed TD Badge programme with the new MOE policy on enhanced measures to promote healthier screen use in students. The earlier proposal for Cadets to access the SCDF Responder Plus Programme (RPP) online course via the MyResponder App has been revised. UG Cadets can now complete the RPP online course on the SCDF website using any web browser on their personal learning device to complete the TD Badge (Bronze). Nexus will also drop the proposed criteria to play and submit new concepts for TD@Singverse game on Roblox as part of TD Badge (Silver). We will reinstate the requirement for Cadets to submit storyboards for N.E.mation!.
b. Support for the conduct of the TD-Table Top Exercise (TTX). The TD TTX for TD Badge (Silver) aims to activate thinking and encourage cadets to develop their own community contingency plans and play a part to be ready and prepared for crises and disruptions. Nexus will prepare resources like exercise video, facilitator guide, and guiding questions/template to help Teacher Officers and Adult Volunteers to guide the conduct of the session. Cadet Leaders may also serve as facilitators, subject to the Teacher Officer's assessment. Nexus will conduct an online Train-the-Trainer (TTT) session for UG Teacher Officers once per year, upon request.
c. Arrangements for the booking of RPP In-Person Training. Nexus and SCDF would like to clarify that the RPP In-Person training will be conducted at one of the four SCDF Division Headquarters (Div HQ) around the island nearest to the school. UGs are required to take note of the following when making the bookings:
(1) There is a minimum group size of 8 pax and a maximum group size of 50 pax each session. Schools are encouraged to groups cadets with other UGs to form a group of 50 pax to optimise session capacity. Schools with less than 50 cadets may be grouped with other participants in classes of up to 50 people to optimise session capacity.
(2) UG units or schools should drop an email to the SCDF Div HQ contact person 3 months in advance to book the session. With the roll out of the refreshed TD Badge programme on 1 Jan 2026, the earliest projected RPP In-Person Training is 1 Apr 2026.
The criteria for TD Badge Programme for 2026 to 2028 is summarised in the table below:
